Cooling pool
Cooling down the body after a hot sauna session (in a Finnish or steam sauna) has a significant effect on improving immunity. The classic procedure of cooling the body by "shocking" it with cold water, returns the blood circulation to a stable state after overheating in the sauna. The rapid heating and subsequent cooling dilates and constricts the blood vessels, making them more elastic. Once the blood vessels in the skin have dilated during sauna bathing, these blood vessels react to the cold by contracting and then re-warming, causing a surge of energy and happiness hormones in the body.
Icefall
After the hot procedure, cooling of the whole body is recommended. If you are not a fan of cold pools, try the more comfortable cooling with ice crystals in conjunction with a massage. The massage can be combined with a stay in a Kneipp bath and alternating walks in hot and cold water. The freezing ice crystals on the back of the neck while dipping the feet into the hot water can treat headaches and act on the general circulation and hardening of the body.
